A Glimpse into Nehemiah’s Heart- What is the Condition of your Heart

Join this HeartCry Prayer- Every Monday 11.30am-2.30pm (UK time)

Nehemiah 1:3-4 And they said to me, “The survivors who are left from the captivity in the province are there in great distress and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and its gates are burned with fire.” So it was, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.
Out of our heart flow the issues of life. How does our heart respond to information about persecutions; desperate situations; backsliding hearts; attacks within and without; widespread proclamation of errors; great misrepresentation of Christ and the faith and calamities?

  • How many times did the news just slip by as INFORMATION instead of a BURDEN?
  • Do you recall a time when your mouth simply exclaimed with pity and that was the end of the matter?
  • What about instances when that news came to your attention but your heart did not skip a beat; didn’t shed any tear or even connect with the victims?
  • How often did the news sprout a concern that grew into a burden but it soon died out because it had no real roots on the soil of your heart?
  • When was the last time news from afar (with no direct ties to family or friends) struck the core of your heart; halted your business as usual; made you weep; and progressed to spontaneous fasting and prayer?
  • How often do we stand aloof assuming others will pick up the burden of giving Jesus no rest?
  • Is the ground of your heart full of junk, that even Jesus is unable to find space to place a burden there?
  • When will you become available like Nehemiah to stand up and become solutions to matters that make the MASTER sad?

  • Regenerated & Redeemed Heart
An un-regenerated heart is incapable of carrying a burden. Its allegiance is to its fathers business (the devil). Even if a person desires to do a selfless work-he is born of the flesh and cannot please God.

  •  I don’t want to receive a doctrine,  I desire a personal revelation of what transpired at Calvary. Gal 2:20
  • I do not want a theoretical or historical Christ. I need the tangible JESUS that is able to take me to the other side (LIGHT). Phil 3:10
  • Help me know that any man born of the flesh can only render services in the flesh, which CANNOT please God. Romans 8
  • Holy Spirit, my Guide and Counsellor- help me now with the new creation life step into all the good works pre-ordained for me. Eph. 2:10
  • I cannot conceive, birth or nurse a burden in my Adamic state, please Lord deliver me so that I can be the solution to the groans and cries in my generation.
  • Repentant & De-cluttered Heart
·         Resurrected Jesus, please flush out of me all the relics of the old nature.
·         Help my heart to thirst and hunger for the Word of Life (JESUS) Matthew 5:6.
·         De-clutter all my vessels, veins, capillaries so that Jesus’ passion, mission, good works can permeate out of it.

  •  Largeness of Heart
And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore. 1 Kings 4:29
·        Lord Let the virtues of Christ (largeness of heart, wisdom and great understanding, compassion, selflessness) begin to pump out of my heart.

Rules For Holy Living

BIBLE - Basic Instruction for Believers Living on Earth

I am raised with Christ. Col.3:1

·         To what?  A new life.

·         Benefit:    I share His resurrection from the dead.

  • My focus:

  · Aim at and seek rich eternal treasures that are abovem Strive to put heaven’s priorities into daily practice.

    · Set my heart on things above not earthly things.

  • Where are these things? Where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.

  • Why must I follow these instructions? As far as the world is concerned, I am dead and my life is hidden with Christ.
When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Col 3:4.

To prepare myself for appearing with Him in glory, I must:

Beware Of Enemy's ‘Help’!

Prompted by the decree of king Cyrus of Persia (Ezra 1; 1-4), many Jewish exiles were encouraged to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple.
Over 42,000 volunteers took the first initiative to journey back to Jerusalem to build under the leadership of Zerubbabel and Jeshua. Within two years this initial resettlement had been completed and the foundation of the temple laid.
Chapter 4: 1-2: When the enemies of Judah and Benjamin heard that the exiles were building a temple for the LORD the God of Israel, they came to Zerubbabel and to the heads of the families and said, “Let us help you build because, like you, we seek your God and have been sacrificing to Him since the time of Esarhaddon king of Assyria, who brought us here.”
  •  Jerusalem had become an occupied territory since the time of the exile some 60 years earlier.
  •  This was a mixed multitude of the northern Israel which had become apostate (Samaria) and other   foreign tribes, especially Assyrians, full of pagan practices.
  • They came under false pretences – ‘we also seek “your God” and have been sacrificing to Him….’
Vs 3: But Zerubbabel, Jeshua, and the rest of the heads of the families of Israel answered, “You have no part with us in building a temple to our God. We alone will build it for the LORD, The God of Israel, as King Cyrus, the king of Persia, commanded us.”
  •  Zerubbabel and Jeshua worked in close partnership with the heads of the returning families. They   did not take decisions on their own.
  • There is oneness as these exemplary leaders carried their people along. There is power in unity.
  • They have a unified resolve to be separate, and spoke boldly, ‘You have no part with us’
  • ‘We ALONE will build for the LORD.’ The church is in a big mess today because we have allowed all kinds ‘to build with us’. Ministries being sponsored and funded by forces of the kingdom of darkness.
  • The spirit of mammon has blinded church leaders into accepting assistance to ‘build’ from Satan himself, thus the powerlessness in the church.
Vs 4 – It was not long before these ‘helpers’ showed their true colours. Their effort to frustrate the people and destroy God’s work halted the building for the next 15 years, spanning the reigns of three kings. However, these people did not allow this intense opposition and frustration to deter them or make them yield to the enemies’ tactics in any way.
Thank God for the resolve of the Jews, encouraged by their visionary leaders not to give up in the face of this intense opposition!

PRAYERS:
  •  Dear LORD, we stand in the gap for Your church again today for our sin of loving mammon so much that we have opened the door for the enemy to take front seat in our worship. We have accepted and received ‘help’ from the enemy and have loved mammon instead of YOU.
  •  Please Father, visit Your Church again, the Church that You purchased with the precious blood of Your Son Jesus Christ. Come again with the zeal with which You drove out the merchandisers from the temple in John 2: 13-17.
  • Please give us and make us leaders who are Visionaries, selfless, accountable and contented, who like Zerubbabel will not use the people as spoils.
